In 2023, the European Union gave the green light to the NextGenSportsFacilities project, laying the foundation for an initiative made possible by the Erasmus+ programme. This collaborative effort brings together three forward-thinking educational institutes from the Netherlands, Portugal, and Turkey, embarking on a collective journey to redefine the future of sports facilities.

Connecting Talents Across Europe

Our diverse consortium is, featuring contributors from the Netherlands, including the NOC*NSF (Netherlands Olympic Committee), Breda University of Applied Sciences, and the Orange Sports Forum. Portugal adds its expertise through the Instituto Politécnico de Beja and QXote, while Turkey is represented by the esteemed Istanbul Teknik Universitesi.

At the heart of NextGenSportsFacilities lies a commitment to solving persistent problems with fresh designs. Our three partner universities are set to employ a "design thinking methodology," unleashing the creative potential of students. This approach goes beyond overcoming challenges; it actively engages participants in generating innovative concepts and designs for future sports centers in Europe.
